Ski competition on a piste in St. Moritz, Switzerland.

Piste is the French term for a downhill ski trail, run,
or slope that is marked, maintained, and supervised by resort

The term is used in English to refer to ski trails at uppity
resorts, not only in France, but around the world.

The related phrase en piste (ahng PEEST´) refers to being on
an established ski trail or ski run, and roughly corresponds to
the English phrase ‘on the slopes.’

I was en piste when I spotted former President Obama and
his daughters.
